About FlightDue

Who runs this. FlightDue is built and maintained by Rana Usman Ahmad, a UK-based technology consultant. It exists because most flight compensation checkers are run by claims firms with an incentive to say yes and take a cut - this one has no claim to sell, so it can tell you the honest answer either way.

How the rules are verified. The compensation engine follows UK261 (Regulation 261/2004 as assimilated into UK law) and EU Regulation 261/2004, cross-checked against UK CAA guidance, EUR-Lex, and gov.uk, most recently in August 2026. The Schengen calculator implements the 90/180 short-stay rule as described in EU guidance, verified against the same date.

The July 2026 EU reform. The reform the EU agreed in July 2026 keeps the current 3-hour trigger and the €250 to €600 amounts. Its other changes, such as a guaranteed free cabin bag and new claim-handling rules, apply about a year after publication in the Official Journal, around 2027. FlightDue will update when the final text is published.
